My name is Safa. Born and raised in Tunisia, I decided to move to Iceland in 2018 to study at the University of Iceland. After two years on this beautiful island in the North Atlantic, I started to miss the Mediterranean Sea; when I reunited with my family during a trip to Tunisia later that year, the scents of my childhood filled me with warm memories. The moment I walked in the door, the rich aromas of my mom's handmade spices filled my senses. I had missed them—harissa, cumin, tabil—all of it gave a depth and tanginess to meals unlike spices from anywhere else, and my mother had prepared them by hand. I missed her spices.

She purchased the best raw ingredients available, even traveling to the countryside where her sisters live to procure fresh chilis or seeds to dry in the sun for use in our favorite recipes. The tradition of preparing one's own spices has become less and less common over time, but my mom continued to do so, like in the old days. She thinks it's the best way!

I love the chicken seasoning, it's so incredibly tasty and convenient to mix it with oil and add it to the chicken and let it marinate before grilling it.

then I use the sun-dried garlic powder a lot. It is slightly caramelized and gives the garlic a pleasant sweetness. I basically put this on everything garlic, on meat marinades, on fish, vegetables dishes, cold sauces, cream or honey another level of garlic powder!
